Recently, I bought some electronic music that I think you will like.
I am no good at writing about music. When I write about it, I write things like “This album has a lot of clicking noises, and the songs are short, and yeah.” My point is, I will not abuse you, loyal reader, by trying to sound like a music reviewer, even one who only writes for a blog. Instead, I will just list out some of the records I purchased recently, all of which are, somewhat surprisingly, main stream electronic music. Have I lost my edge, or is liking main stream stuff the new edgy? I can’t tell anymore, folks, San Francisco has ruined me.
- Matthew Dear: Asa Breed
. This is definitely a clicky one. Click click click!
- U.N.K.L.E: War Stories
Is this the first UNKLE record in like 10 years? Whatever, it’s great.
- The Chemical Brothers: We Are the Night
I am sort of amazed that after putting out a song as dumb as “Back with another one of those block rocking beats,” yawn, the Chemical Brothers come out with songs like “The Salmon Dance” and “The Pills Won’t Help You Now,” both of which are totally weird and awesome. That’s what I like for in a record, people. Weird, and also awesome.
Here, for your listening pleasure, is the above mentioned The Salmon Dance by The Chemical Brothers. If you are a record company, I hope you do not sue me. And if you like this song, I encourage you to go to a local record store and buy this record, thus supporting your local stoner economy. Alternately, if you don’t care about your local stoner economy OR if you DO care about not filling up the entire world with pieces of plastic, you can download them from iTunes. Whatever you do, do not click the links above, which will send you to Amazon, meaning any purchase you make would generate not only the CD, booklet and case, but a cardboard box, way too much packing material, a few Amazon catalog pages, and a truck drive. On second thought, you might as well just give up now and move into a cave somewhere and bang rocks together, which will probably be a lot better for the environment and give you roughly the same experience.
I hate being such a consumer whore.
